Yoga asanasAsanas are not merely physical movements. They have a far reaching impact on growing child. It improves circulation vital to the proper functioning of the body. Yoga asanas increases the supply of fresh blood to the brain thus enchanting the mental capacity. Asanas check excessive aggression and excitability through the regulation of the adrenal glands. Yoga helps a child to ride the tide of advancing puberty and thereafter to direct and channel the energy youth.

Yoga asanas mainly check laziness and lethargy which some time characterizes this phase. Yoga asanas are the aspects of yoga which should be introduced in schools and colleges. Yoga is a vast and multifaceted subject. By exposing the children to yoga at the middle school level, interest in the subject of yoga will be created at the right age. Ideally, one should rest during menstruation for about two days. If however, girls wish to practice Yoga during menstruation, it is quite safe to do all asanas except for the inverted poses which should not be done on any account.

Yoga-asanas are often mistaken for contortions of the body. Yoga-asanas are well suited for children. They are imaginative and unique. They help a child to develop will power and sensitivity and provide children a means to learn about themselves through a wide range of body movements.
